rev: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets [2002]


Nothing really new here. The Harry Potter crew are one year older and the new story seems even less interesting and thrilling than in the previous instalment. Buoying the film are performances from Kenneth Branagh and Jason Isaacs as Lucius Malfoy along with a flying car. Then again, like the previous film, the main action begins an hour and thirty minutes in.

Interestingly, considering that Gilderoy Lockhart gave himself amnesia, I’m surprised J.K. Rowling didn’t cleverly try to redeem Lockhart. You know, like having Ron Weasley tell Lockhart how he was a “famous” wizard and ultimately show everyone the potential he had inside…
